  Fellow Fleet Members:

It's a changing world and a changing economy. Gas is up to over $4.00
a gallon here in NJ and the rest of the summer is promising to bring
volatile prices. Region 7 and our fellow chapters already have had
the expense of attending an International Conference, Shore Leave and
other various ship events throughout the region. The Command Staff of
the Challenger wanted to be sensitive to the economic needs of our
fellow chapters and their members, whom we have enjoyed for our now 20
plus years. In light of these factors, we have decided to cancel our
current Anniversary party plans and create a version that will bring a
lower cost of attendance and make our celebration more accessible to
the folks around Fleet who we enjoy so much.

We figured that by sacrificing a party in an very upscale venue, we
could host a party that focuses on the important thing, celebrating
our 20 years. Plans for our new party are almost final and we expect
to make an announcement within the next week or so with all the final
details.

What we can tell you today is this. We're going to have a
three-course catered event at the Seaside Heights Community Center.
The date will be as close to our original date as possible, if not on
the same day. (We are just waiting on a confirmation from the folks
who book the center.) The cost will be $25.00 instead of the previous
party's cost of $50.00 We still plan to have the same music, memories
and milestones, hopefully with some more folks able to join us due to
the lower cost.

For those who have paid in advance, you will be receiving a check for
the full amount you had already paid. For anyone who has made a hotel
reservation, we have asked the Sheraton to cancel all room
reservations, but please double check to make sure it has been done,
as you may not have been coded to our room block.

We apologize for the change in plans, but we hope this change allows
more of our friends to be able to celebrate with us. If you have any
questions, please let us know.
