Hi everybody,

While I've been in touch in other ways (e-mails, phone conversations and
visits) I haven't sent out a joint letter to you all in awhile.

The summer is always one of the best times of year (well its my favorite
season of the year anyway) and it seems to be the most exciting time of year
for Starfleet/chapter events.

This year is no exception. Avenger, Challenger, Justice and Starlord have
just had or are planning some great picnic/BBQ parties.

There are also a number of great cons coming up. Some of you are going to
the IC next weekend (safe journey there and back) and we have Shore Leave in
a few weeks. I know not all of you are going to that but many of you are.

JumpCon in Somerset is being put on by a new company with some fantastic
guests and I know many BG fans among you (and many of us are also CDF
members) will be on hand to see the Colonial President and Admiral Adama
that first weekend in August. The R7 Recruitment Office secured a table for
this con months ago during I*Con so if you plan to go, please volunteer some
time or stop by for a visit.

I know CDF is looking into securing a table also.

Later in the summer is Monster Mania Con for you horror fans which as always
is held in Cherry Hill New Jersey.

There is a Creation Stargate Con in Cherry Hill in the fall and another Big
Apple Con in NYC will be held in November and they've repeated their offer
of a free table and entrance from June.

There has already been talk of once again supporting the Junior Diabetes
Foundation with the annual walk just blocks away from Ortley Beach on the
first weekend of October.

Our chapters' strength is good and reporting is also good. By and large this
sector is the most stable of the region and I'd like to thank the efforts of
all of you as the leaders of your respective chapters for making it so.

I know Starfleet and our region is in a period of transition right now.
There are many unresolved issues that hopefully will be addressed before
long. Perhaps some will be discussed during the IC I would expect.

New leadership will come to Starbase 7 and I know whoever takes over will
have a challenging job ahead of them.

I think we are still a vibrant strong region and that we need to focus on
what has made us successful in the past, to try new things in the future and
in matters of disputes to be fair to all and to take quick but well thought
out action where necessary to make things better.

It has been an exciting year for Sci Fi. BG has been incredible and we've
enjoyed some great films lately, Iron Man, Indiana Jones, The Incredible
Hulk, and next month will bring us Batman and the X-Files with The Mummy's
third installment coming in August.

Star Trek will return next spring and I think we'll be ready for it.

My chapter turns 20 years old on July 12 and I invite you all to come by for
our BBQ on July 5. Plans of our formal anniversary have been out there for
some time now. An update on that will be made in the next few weeks.

>From talking to many of you I know that life has been catching up to us all.
Issues of family, health, work have hit us hard and that is to be expected.
Those things come first. Some of us are finding that we can't do some of the
things in as much frequency as we once did. At times when we read certain
listservs we have gotten disheartened by what we read. Despite that, I see
that we are having fun even it isn't in the playground of SF at times but
the ties that have kept us active and friendly remain.

As always should you need anything, a question, complaint, assistance, I'm
here to assist and if you just want to vent or share an idea, that's cool
too. My phone # is 856-495-6476 or you can e-mail me at Beamaboard at aol.comor at
co at usschallenger.org

Thank you and have a great summer!!!

Adm. Bob Vosseller
NJ Sector Chief, Region 7

My best to all of you. II hope to see many of you in the weeks to come.
